The Mysterios had a successful run as a tag team in WWE, with Dominik making his in-ring debut at SummerSlam 2020. The duo even made history as the first father-son pairing to win tag team titles in WWE at WrestleMania Backlash 2021. However, things took a sour turn when Dominik turned on Rey at WWE Clash at the Castle 2022 and joined The Judgment Day faction.
In recent weeks, Dominik has been trying to goad Rey into facing him, but the veteran has refused. Dominik has gone as far as interrupting Rey's Hall of Fame celebration on the March 10 episode of WWE SmackDown and insulting him in front of the WWE Universe. Similarly, on the March 13 episode of WWE Raw, Dominik interrupted Rey's discussion about his Hall of Fame induction and challenged him to a match at WrestleMania 39.
Dominik even took shots at Rey's parenting, claiming that he wasn't there for him during his childhood. He also criticized Rey for buying him a BMW instead of a Mercedes, which he had apparently hoped for. Despite all of this, Rey still loves his son and has refused to fight him.
Will Rey change his mind and accept Dominik's challenge for a WrestleMania 39 match? Only time will tell.
